We have headache this morning. Yesterday The party was big. Maybe a little too much. Our french and russian friends left after midnight.
It is why, this morning, the team is a little slow and quiet around a coffee. The campfire is still burning. Hugo, Max and Leo admire the sky despite the headache. They watch it with passion because they know they will reach their goal under this sky.
At the end of the morning, the camp is tucked, the bags set and the bicycles are ready. Pedaling, the team go back on the road, Max and Nanar follow.
One more steppe, one more forest. During the last 2000 kilometers the sceneries almost didn't change but the arrival is so close.
Bruno opens the road, he knows these regions very well. Camille and Yves support Hugo and Leo. It's so good and reassuring not to be alone.
After an hour biking, Nanar joins us. Max gives us fresh water he got in a nearby village. Now there are ten more kilometers to go. Only ten kilometers. We shake hands one more time and go.
Camille : the faihftul friend from Beaujolais, Bruno : the bike expert in Russia, Yves : a very athletic father, here are those biking with us for the day. They escort us slowly until the arrival.
Max keeps going with Nanar, despite the holes in the road. He follows Piotr who goes a little faster with his big car.
This long day has the flavour of the end of a journey. Always the same forests and the same steppes, it's difficult to believe our final step is not far.
Exhausted by the heat of the burning sun, we stop in a steppe showing an incredible scenery with huge forests down below.
Only thirty kilometers away from the end of this long trip, thirty kilometers to make the difference between avdenture and sedentary life. But we don't think about it, at least not too much. We will see.
Tonight, a lot of people join us because a lot waited for us. Two additional cars park next to the campground and a lot of french people get out. A...
This morning, the crumbs disappeared. Did the Damavoï eat them or Natasha take them off to continue the legend ? It doesn't matter, we smile like children who believe in Santa Claus. We say goodbye to Natasha. A nice meeting we leave already.
The road again. Always and always we keep going. The goal of the day : Igra. In this city few friends are waiting for us to join us during the last 100 kilometers of this long, very long trip.
The road is well maintained and we go 80km on a good asphalt. We meditate during these last hours alone. Soon we will find back well known companions. 40 days on the russian land in the loneliness and the hostility, anxious to see faces from the past.
We reach Igra at the end of the day, exhausted by te hills. On the top of this hill there are few silhouettes. At last, here they are. They stand up straigt on the top looking at us pedaling.
We need few more efforts to join and hug them. Bruno, an old friend, Camille, from Beaujolais we like so much, Yves an...
We get up very late. After enjoying a sleep in, we begin the day slowly, while Max works on his computer to make a sort movie summarizing our trip to present it to russians for our arrival.
In the afternoon, the receptionist calls us. A reporter who saw Nanar parked outside, would like an interview. One more time it's the « Nanar's effect » !
The young lady, Natasha, questions us about our route, our trip, our goal, our ambitions and our motivations. After few pictures in front of the famous Nanar, she promises the interview will be in the Glasov local newspaper next week.
It's already late and it's not smart to go on our bikes and clouds are coming in the sky. Natasha offers to host us. We don't hesitate and accept immediately.
We go to her apartment at te beginning of the evening. We exchange our stories with the story of the Damavoï's legend in this noiseless home during quiet hours.
The Damavoï is a small creature who lives in the houses and takes care of the inhabitants. He o...
Even if we received a very kind welcome from the staff of Yar who offered us tea, biscuits and tasty pelminis to feed us warmly, the night was not so resourceful. Victims of several mosquitoes attacks (Léo taking care of them) and the light of the very shining sun coming by the windows at 2 o'clock in the morning, we finally feel asleep in the middle of this crazy night.
We have been woken up quite strongly at 9 o'clock, the staff make us know we have to leave the room quickly.
It's under a sunny day which heat our saddles at 29°C that we keep going on our path to Glazov.
At our arrival, find out a motel is not so obvious. The receptionist of a luxury hotel is very comprehensive with our trip and offers us a discount which give us the opportunity to stay one night in a comfort we would not have imagined possible in this country.
Bien que l'accueil de la gare de Yar fût des plus chaleureux, la responsable de la billetterie nous ayant offert thé, biscuits et pelminis pour nous restaurer chau...
Hard day today. We leave Zuevka and the asphalt, and join the hardest road of our journey. During fourty kilometers, we ride bike with difficulties on trashed ways with a lot of puddles and mud.
The ground locked our wheels and we can't continue. We must push our bikes and walk.
Exhausted, tired and very dirty, we refind the asphalt in front of the sunset. Dix kilometers on a good road to join the town of Yar. After this long and terrible step, we enjoy a night in a little bedroom inside the station.
Tomorrow it will be the summer, yes, tomorrow !
Just two hundred kilometers between us and Bolshaya Sosnova, just two hundred.
Two hundred, it's the distance between Lyon and Geneve, or Paris and Amiens... But after "France - Russia" by bike, we can say that it's nothing.
Soon, this long travel will be finish.
Journée difficile aujourd'hui. Après avoir quitté Zuevka, nous laissons l'asphalte derrière nous et gagnons la pire route du parcours. Durant quarante kilomètres nous avançons péniblement d...
We leave Leonid and go on the road. Today, there are heat waves. 33°c under the russian sky. To ride bike is a hard challenge for us today. We sweat so much and drink a lot.
It's a long day, we cross many hills. The relief isn't flat and the sun doesn't help us. 118 kilometers to join Zuevka, just before the night.
We rent a room and fall on our beds. The rest is so good when you are tired !
After this real long step we are clother to Bolshaya Sosnova.
At the beginning of the afternoon, we feel that summer is back. We have the time to take time on the road, thinking about finding a nice place to camp. We see Max and Nanar near a path and stop our bikes there. In less than five minutes a bunch of mosquitoes were already sucking our skins. With no more solutions we again take the decision to find a motel for tonight. On our way to Kirov we can see for the first time on a road sign: Perm. We are so happy to understand that arrival is that close now. The next day, we stay in the motel to use the washing machine to clean our clothes. We leave the motel after this in order to fix our bikes in the center of Kirov.
We actually find a little bike shop where we meet Kiril, who work here and take care of our bikes. He get rid off used parts to get new ones. It's already late to continue riding today and Kiril help us to find a place to sleep. He finally call a friend of him, Leonid who propose to host us tonight. We meet him a bit later and enjo...
We leave the hostel, almighty, after good night. The road is asphalted but hilly. We have'nt seen this relief since a long time. Our bikes are worn, kilometer after kilometer, and have a lot of difficulties to climb the hills. Every day we are worried about them. In Kirov, we will repare this, to be sure to arrive in Bolshaya Sosnova without problem.
Finally we arrive at the end of our step : the town of Orlov. Max has found a motel... very atypical. A trashed big building of cement.
Inside is more warmful than outside.
Calm evening in Orlov. Kirov is clother to us. Sosnova too ! Soon ! Yes, soon !
